Don’t lose out if you lose your essential documents

Many of us choose to have our weddings abroad. Going abroad requires a variety of documents. If anything unexpected were to happen to these documents, you might be left in some financial difficulty. Our wedding essential documents insurance policies cover you against the costs for travel accommodation and fees you might incur in getting new documents.

According to the policy wording:

 ‘We will indemnify You in accordance with the amount stated in the Summary of Cover in respect of reasonable costs for travel, accommodation and fees which arise as a result of the necessity to obtain replacement copies of the documents which are essential to Your Wedding taking place outside the United Kingdom, and which, during the period defined in (ii) below, are lost or damaged for reasons beyond Your control.’


This part of the policy only applies ‘in respect of Weddings taking place outside the United Kingdom’, and only ‘commences from the date of issue of the Schedule and applies until the Wedding takes place, as booked, or a claim is made under this section of the policy, whichever occurs first.’

In order to claim under this section of the policy wording, you have to make sure you have ‘reported to the consular representatives of the relevant issuing country within 24 hours of discovery of loss, and a written report obtained.
